Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to check out my blog. Our time is so precious these days that we find it difficult to sacrifice any of it unless we can justify it being "productive".
So to spare you a little time, in this first post I'd like to explain what this blog will be about, what you can expect and my intentions behind it.
Living in an instantly-accessible world has allowed us to connect and come together in a way that has never been experienced in our history, and for this, as a young artist, I am extremely grateful because it allows me to share my work with a wide audience, engage with other artists, seek advice, learn different methods of creating art and explore the artistic industry.
With this ever-changing world and the advantages of social media, more people are starting to leave behind the narrative that we were raised to believe- that being leaving school and going on to university or getting a trade or a 9-5 job, settling down for the long-haul and complaining for the rest of our lives that we hate our job- and instead taking risks to pursue careers that really matter to them.
I am one of those people. I have never been comfortable with the idea that we ought to spend our finite time here doing something we despise because we have been taught that our happiness lies in our paychecks.
In 2014, I took the leap at nineteen years of age, and registered my first business with absolutely zero experience in the business world, only equipped with my ability to draw. Since then it has been a roller-coaster and while I am still a relatively small business, and I continue to work a full-time job at the same time, it is my goal to share with my audience the lessons I have learned, and will continue to learn, the failures I have had and the success I have achieved.
I want to share the very real aspect of being a young creative entrepreneur with a dream to break the typical "Artist Stereotypes"- one in particular being that we live on spare change, empty stomachs and eccentric personalities (well, that one may be true..)
If you, like myself, are a young creative with a desire to practice your craft despite the discouragement of others, I hope my blog will help to inspire you to do just that, and allow you to have an insight into what it is actually like.
Through interacting with my audience on social media I will be sharing Q+A's, offering drawing tips, explaining the inspiration behind my personal pieces, lessons I have learned along the way and so, so much more.
So, if this peaks your interest, stay tuned- I have so much exciting content to bring your way!
Until next time, keep creating.
